Everything is on the Table!

That's right!  Everything is on the individual's table, but that does not mean how.

Robert Reich counts
8 Principles to Guide Democrats in the Fiscal Cliff Showdown.*

ONE: HOLD YOUR GROUND.

TWO: NO DEAL IS BETTER THAN A BAD DEAL.

THREE: MAKE REPUBLICANS VOTE ON EXTENDING THE TAX CUTS JUST FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS.

FOUR: DEMAND HIGHER TAX RATES ON WEALTHY, NOT JUST LIMITS ON DEDUCTIONS.

FIVE: DON'T CUT SAFETY NETS.

SIX: DON'T CUT INVESTMENTS IN OUR FUTURE PRODUCTIVITY.

SEVEN: CUT SPENDING ON MILITARY AND CORPORATE WELFARE.

EIGHT: PUT JOBS BEFORE DEFICIT REDUCTION.

Number Five puts the Safety Net on the table. As in: DON'T CUT IT!
But it is not that simple. Medicare and Social Security do not need to be on the table at this time. That does not mean they need to be cut in the future. Addressing them is not just in the form of cutting them. Even so, if they address the top end or the bottom line, changes could be balanced in the tax code, not to hit those that need the safety net and even address the income gap.

* BOLDLY ENUMERATED taken directly from his post.

[Follow-down...I wouldn't go that far.  Despite quibbles with the terms of B.S. or F. C.  this is the kernel of the matter
Former Sen. Alan Simpson says ‘‘you have to have a blend’’ of revenue increases and spending cuts to achieve a deal to avoid the cliff.

Especially the bold below:
Simpson tells NBC’s ‘‘Today’’ show it’s ridiculous for Democrats and Republicans to speculate on which party would suffer more if no compromise agreement were achieved. He says, quote, ‘‘That’s like betting your country. There’s stupidity in that. This is big-time stuff.’’

I do not believe his "arithmatic" though.(in bold)
Speaking of Congress, Simpson says, in his words, ‘‘If you gave 90 percent of them a profit-loss statement in one hand and a balance sheet in the other, they wouldn’t know how to read it.’’
It could not be that bad.]

[This is a bit of a Mitt-Flop from a long story short.  But you learn something everyday.  In my case it is very embarassing, having constucted a home, that yes it is proper to use a stair for a step, as long as you don't trip.  Not to mention where I may have gone if I had had more sports.  But if it is not too late, don't miss the Stairs link.  It covers one of several topics covered at a weekend get together with friends.  Taxes that is.  Not to mention dressage*.  Little did I know that I actually know someone who participates in that sport.]

** This originated in a pun on Brewer and the SCOTUS in their two rulings today. Three of the four key ingredients of 1070 were over-turned and the only one standing duplicates federal law.  So basically it was overturned and leaves the state with existing law.  In the Citizens United/Montana ruling federal law was upheld as well, or rather state law was over-turned as well.  To keep this from getting messy, I will simply insert a few Ed Schultz links.

(pun on give/take/receive) (Slash Not what you can do...)(If I may quibble withRobert Reich, and Noam Chomsky, I will have to link later^^^, but the former is related byword play to the latter by George. Society plays a part in defining words, so I guess I can't blame Chomsky for using words that we want to change. This relates to the evolution of the wordholocaust and the war on evolution. It relates to groups claiming words while we also want to define them under the flag of progress. Is abortion genocide? Is war murder? The law decides, while some forsake it, and the politics that decide it.)]

^^^ I must find a Chomsky use of the word murder in the context of war. (The connectingtissueis the use of "social Darwinism" in a way that is contrary to the survival of the fittest, that nails trickle-down to the cross. )
[update: Rober Reich ponders run ]

[on balance and more.]
Note that not only do Democrats spend less they generally contribute less to the national debt, at least since the late 70's. OK, so there are only two Democrats before Obama, but look what happened to Carter for being conservative, and at least in Clinton's case he bent the curve in two terms.

Social Darwinism?

Is that not an inconvenient term? I know it relates to "survival of the fittest", but what is social about it? Shouldn't those that don't fit, be thrown to the wolves? Pardon my spin, but if corporations are people, what are communities? I think we are suffering from labelism and spin.

Second Spin: There seems to be something "inconvenient" about this juxtaposition, which is hard to unspin. I know it stems from "survival of the fittest", but is that not the root of being social? Unsocial Darwinism would be no more convenient. But that doesn't stop some from evolving labels and name calling.

[Speaking of Creeping, not to ding Rachel Maddow, but note the Santorum, 3F. Invisible hand anyone? What would Adam Smith say about teachers, drug companies and whose job is what. Not to confuse Popping Culture with Pope Culture. ]

Obtuseness?

Robert Reich asks why are Democrats voting for Reaganomics?
Paul Craig Roberts suggests another spin on Reaganomics.
Is it the obtuseness of stagflation/inflation?
Is that like growing the pie, while each piece gets smaller?
No, it is like the pie not growing while costs do, and jobs go to pieces. Whew, I think I cut that close to home. But I do think that several of their points do intersect (actually lines do, but at points) but there could be another angle or perspective needed in the back and forth. Enough ge oh me trick ally pointed puns. It may take a third econonomic perspective or formulae to alter the give and take. At least it is not just about supply and demand, but employment and progress. But for whom?
[I did not mean to kill two birds with one stone, but yes I am often obtuse or have a cute angle on things. I may often have too big a picture(stone) or skip from one to another perspective(bird). But this toss is back to the concept of not all things being equal. Not just taxes, but debt and spending, in regards to alternate pies, perspectives or form you lie.]
[Potential Star Chamber? The other four points.]
[Breaking, a cuteness.]

The truth is not so irrational.

Paul Krugman austerity and the market
Robert Reich the market is not so rational.
Nor is it all that inspiring.
[Speaking or Stimulus Meet the Press edited ?, pressing congress forward nothing new]
[Or messing communications around the 14 to 17:22 minutes of Meet the Press. Progress is in the pipeline(congress) and the question of new stimulus is a question that would have a market impact if not distinguished from what is already suggested. Does that explain Axelrod awkwardly pressing Gregory?]

[C: Suddenly Nuanced and subtle segment of email rant: But down to the legal ease or difficulty of writing laws... I have barely attmepted to read the Arizona bill, but it may be in the process of evolving itself. My real point is that short laws are not really good laws if they have to be interpreted to be enforced. This hits the nail on the table of the Palin Paul Pup Tents in the Republican Bail Out from Responsibility. I mean they whine about too many laws(and pages), and hang on the "original intent" of the constitution, and then pass a law that needs more work and interpretation. ...to say the least.]

More than psychologicaL...

but part of it for now.
Obama begins treatment of the economy.
Previous claims of mental depression.
McCain/Gramm syndrome dealt with.

[On the other hand: Trickle-Down Bailout Continues.]

[There is only one psychologist at a time. But Obama must be semi-engaged and Bush must acknowledge his part, not that this means that the Citigroup move was crazy. Until the transition is complete there is a good reason for this cross between a tug-a-war and teeter-totter. Can we say legacy? Bailout is a misnomer except as a metaphor for a rising tide that doesn't lift all boats and just who is the bailer or bailee of the trickle-down [*].]
